Jackson Browne - Time The Conqueror

It's been six years since Jackson Browne released his last studio record, The Naked Ride Home. I found it… average. Since - thanks to his new label Inside Recordings - two acoustics live recordings have been offered to us who highlight some of his greatest songs and show that the man who once wrote songs for Nico is still alive.

So, Time The Conqueror is Jackson Browne’s first studio release in 6 years, I said. Recorded with his longtime band, this album adds two members, Chavonne Morris and Alethea Mills, two vocalists. It’s easy to hear them all the time… Just like Leonard Cohen’s latest recordings. Maybe it’s a question of age. In both case, the voice of those men are enough to fulfill my needs, why adding vocalists?
Anyway, what I like with Jackson Browne and with Time The Conqueror is that the man never surrender: he still writes (long?) protest tunes. And that's the reason why, Time The Conqueror stands as a very strong, effective Jackson Browne album. But will the record continue to have a punch long after the George W. Bush administration will fade into the history books?
